Reporting to the Director of Global Engineering, this position is responsible for applying acquired technical knowledge and engineering skills to develop and enhance Daniel’s ultrasonic meter product line along with other Daniel electronic products and accessories.  You will collaborate closely with Product Management, Manufacturing, and other members of the engineering team to support next-generation product development.

Essential Functions

  • Lead design, development and product enhancement efforts for Daniel’s ultrasonic meter product line as well as for other electronic components and accessory devices in Daniel’s portfolio.
  • Collaborate with Product Management to support the identification of customer specific needs with regards to integrated power/excitation, data transmission, data collection and data analysis requirements.
  • Ensure technical accuracy of all engineering documentation, and sales collateral as it relates to electronic components offered by Daniel.
  • Generate electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control logic diagrams for Daniel products. 
  • Understand and address all aspects of the customer’s technical specifications, internal equipment datasheets, stakeholder concerns as well as equipment, application, and project risks as they relate to product
  • Work with strategic partners/suppliers on the technical requirements, certifications, software updates, test protocols and standards for the ultrasonic meter product line.
  • Develop design specifications for electronic hardware and software for Daniel products and communicate these requirements effectively to our suppliers
  • Develop test plans and oversee the validation and verification testing of the Daniel ultrasonic meter and other Daniel electronic components and accessories.
  • Support new product development (NPD) initiatives by conducting feasibility studies, prototyping, and performance testing.
  • Author and issue controls business associated technical documents: submittal documents, testing procedures, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), technical memos, control narratives, commissioning reports, etc.
  • Ensure adherence to global industry standards and support the acquisition of necessary certifications to facilitate applications for many global customers.
  • Produce training materials to support Daniel’s technical knowledgebase.
  • Assist in ongoing research and development efforts to expand current product offerings and provide value engineering
  • Site visits to pipeline operators, refineries, and industrial facilities to support customer engagements and field product testing applications
  • Attendance at key industry conferences and training workshops

Education and Experience

  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering
  • 7+ years of experience in design/development of flow measurement products for custody transfer or process measurement applications in the Energy industry

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of mass flow measurement, turbine, and ultrasonic meters
  • Proficiency in engineering design software, CAD tools, and product lifecycle management (PLM) systems
  • Understanding of Electrical Codes and Hazardous Area design restrictions for the energy industry
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to develop, test, and launch new products
  • Familiarity with digital transformation trends in the O&G industry
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage customers and drive technical discussions
