We have an immediate opening for a strategic Buyer with at least 5 years’ experience. This role reports directly to the Director of Operations and Global Supply Chain and is responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials needed for production, while also managing inventory levels and maintaining good relationships with suppliers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
| • Forecasts, plans, and purchases inventories for future production honoring the required lead times of vendors. • Works closely with the planning department and SIOP to meet customer requirements in a timely manner. • Works with the customs department to reduce transportation costs by optimizing shipments from suppliers. • Quotes and negotiates prices with national and international suppliers, conditions of delivery, quality, and service that comply with the requirements and policies of the company in the acquisition of raw material. • Places purchase orders specifying all payment terms and specifications. • Leads inventory reduction projects. • Ensures on-time payment to suppliers to avoid situations of disrupted shipments due non-payment. • Maintains MRP parameters to assure timely supply and optimum inventory levels. • Follows up with each supplier for fulfillment of delivery times, quality, and service previously agreed by each purchase order, expediting as needed. • Generates corrective actions to suppliers as needed. • Participates in the development of suppliers of raw material both nationally and internationally. •Takes and participates in actions to help maintain the quality system. • Ensures strict compliance with the company’s safety rules, policies, and measures. |
REQUIREMENTS:
• English: Advanced. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Knowledge and management of computational MRP packages.
• Leadership skills.
• Knowledge of generation of reports and statistics.
• Knowledge of process of placing and tracking purchase orders of raw material in time, cost, and level of review.
• Management of feedback to suppliers of their performance on timely deliveries and discrepancies.
• Results-oriented with ability to plan, organize, and prioritize.
